New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired

APH Federal Quota Census Program

Deadline: February 9th, 2015

It’s that time of year again!  APH Federal Quota Census Program!

Each year, Congress appropriates money to the American Printing House for the Blind (APH) to assist states in providing students with visual impairment access to special materials. This money is used for educational programs below the college level. The total amount of dollars, determined by Congress, is divided into an allocation by state that is based on the number of eligible students registered in that state with APH.  These funds will help your district purchase materials for qualifying students.

It is time once again for the annual registration of New Mexico students. Below are several things related to this registration:

Directions for completing the forms.

Information about qualifying criteria is also included.

A blank registration for you to add students that meet the qualifications for the registry.
Please save a copy of the completed form for your records.

Please note: We have asked for eye condition and program type for your students. This will help us support your district in prioritizing both relevant training as well as educational opportunities for your students. Feel free to email back your information r print out and mail your form.

If you have no qualifying students, write in the school district’s or agency’s name, annotate there are no legally blind students and the date.

Return the registration form by February 9, 2015.  It is important to complete and return these forms because students who are not registered by the closing date become ineligible to receive certain types of APH educational materials that you may need for them.
